Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to download any software?
No! GPad Tester runs entirely in your web browser using the HTML5 Gamepad API. There's nothing to download, install, or configure. Just connect and test.
Which controllers are supported?
We support Xbox (Series X|S, One, 360), PlayStation (PS5, PS4, PS3), Nintendo Switch Pro/Joy-Cons, and nearly any standard USB or Bluetooth gamepad that your OS recognizes.
Controller connected but not responding?
Make sure your controller is paired. You must press any button to wake up the Gamepad API — this is a browser security requirement. We recommend Google Chrome or Edge for the best support.
Is the gamepad tester completely free?
Yes, GPad Tester is 100% free with no hidden costs, subscriptions, or premium features. All 10 testing tools are available at no charge.
Can I test wireless controllers?
Absolutely! As long as your controller is paired via Bluetooth to your device, it will work. For the lowest latency readings, however, we recommend testing with a USB cable.
How accurate is the analog stick testing?
The Gamepad API reports floating-point values from -1.0 to 1.0. Our tools display these in real-time at the browser's polling rate (60Hz). It's accurate enough for detecting drift and deadzone issues.
